Creating plastic parts

The process to make plastic parts is a cool multi-step process! And today, we are going to learn how plastic parts are manufactured, how they are designed, how they are checked for quality & what materials we need to use. Join Young Mould in the world of plastic part production.

Injection molding is the first step in making plastic parts. This is when hot, plastic is forced into a mold and left there to cool and solidify. After the plastic solidifies, it comes out the mold, and Walla  — Our plastic component is ready! Previously, we were able to quickly and easily manufacture numerous identical pieces using this method.

Designing for injection molding

In other words, when it comes to designing a plastic part to be shot molded, the shape, size, and features of the part matter. Also, we have to add features to ensure more ease of removal from the mold and keeping the part of good strength. This is part of a process known as CAD (computer-aided design), allowing Young Mould to effectively design and test our plastic parts prior to being made so that every one of our pieces is perfect.
