roto molding

Ever wonder how that plastic toy you love to play with is made? Or have you ever considered how large water tanks are constructed? Roto molding is the cool process that answers these questions! It is more fun and interesting process to produce a kind of cheap plastic, that's also very strong and durability.

Rotational molding is also referred to as or rotomolding. First, a special type of plastic — called resin — is heated until it is pliable and gooey. They then pour this melted plastic into a specific mold, which is a container with the same shape as the thing we want to make. Once the melted resin is poured into the mold the mold gets heated up and spun. The spinning movement ensures that the melted plastic coats the entire interior of the mold evenly. Upon cooling, the melted plastic solidifies right in the mold and your plastic item is good to go!

An efficient manufacturing process for plastic products

Roto molding is a great way to produce large items and products with complex shapes, but this is not the only reason to consider this method over others. The machines used in roto molding are less complex than those utilized in the other plastic making processes. With this, making plastic things is cheaper, quicker, and produces less waste, which means it isenvironmentally friendly.

There are so many great advantages of roto molding! For one, this method is well-suited for manufacturing products with abnormal or even asymmetric shapes. The molten plastic can flow into every nook and corner of the mold, filling in even the tightest corners and curves. The capability to produce intricate geometry is what makes roto molding really unique. Second, roto molded products tend to be stronger and more durable compared to other manufacturing processes. Roto molded products, on the other hand, have no weak spots, called weld lines, and an equal thickness at all points. Finally, roto molded products have a better surface finish. So they can be very nice, as the mold can be polished or have a special texture, and a nice-looking part appears on the output.
