And that is incredibly valuable—because it enables factory workers to produce all sorts of things, from toys and containers to pieces for cars and airplanes! In other words, plastic forming has a part in the products you notice and utilize every day.

Injection Molding, Thermoforming, and More

Injection molding is a commonly used method of plastic forming. This special process involves heating small bits of plastic known as pellets until they get super hot and melt. Then, the liquid plastic is pushed up into a special container called a mold that shapes the plastic into a certain form. The then cooled down and hardened plastic in the shape of the spectacles becomes the mold. When the plastic sets hard, we removed it from the mold. Injection Molding is a quick and efficient method of manufacturing large batches of plastic products in a brief span of time. So this is important as this will allow factories to produce lots of products in a quick time!

THe other most interesting way to form plastic is known as thermoforming. This process involves heating a sheet of plastic until it is no longer stiff, but is soft and flexible. When this plastic becomes soft enough, it is Cast and carefully duplicated to form a mold. Once the plastic has cooled, it retains its new shape quite well.
